Project Purpose
Construct a community center in Lead that will provide vital needed services to support the community and the economic growth of the area. Services include childcare, indoor recreation, a new library, emergency shelter and other community programs.
Local Impact:
Safe affordable childcare, allowing people to return to work
ADA Compliant Library serving nearly 2,500 patrons annually (fire escape is a metal staircase currently)
Safe place for seniors and teens (youth) (no local senior center)
Boost health and well being
Immediately create 3 new jobs directly and approximately 35 indirect jobs
Emergency Shelter
State Impact:
Reduce the estimated $329 million loss in productivity due to its inadequate childcare landscape by providing new childcare services in the northern Black Hills and getting people back to work
Public Private Partnership
Attract workers to the area, increasing productivity, generating more tax dollars to the state
